World Nursery Rhyme Week

World Nursery Rhyme Week
At Banana Moon Barnstaple, we love celebrating the joy of music, storytelling and language development. During World Nursery Rhyme Week, our Baby Moons had lots of fun exploring the classic rhyme Old MacDonald Had a Farm through a creative and engaging tuff tray activity.

The activity allowed the children to explore a farm-themed play scene filled with animals, textures and different materials. Through hands-on play, the children were able to recreate parts of the familiar rhyme while using their imagination to create their own stories.

Nursery rhymes play an important role in early childhood development. They help children develop language and communication skills, improve listening and memory, and encourage rhythm and sound recognition. Activities like this also support imaginative play as children explore different characters and scenarios.

By combining sensory play with well-known rhymes, children are able to engage with language in a fun and meaningful way while building confidence in their communication skills.

We loved seeing the children explore the farm scene and bring the nursery rhyme to life through their play. Moments like these show how learning through play can support children’s creativity, curiosity and early language development.
