We were delighted to welcome the fantastic education team from
Educate with Exmoor Zoo (
https://www.exmoorzoo.co.uk/education) to Banana Moon Barnstaple for a very special visit. It was an exciting and memorable experience for the children, who had the opportunity to learn about a variety of fascinating animals through a hands-on session.
During the visit, the children met several incredible creatures including giant African land snails, stick insects, a tarantula, a corn snake, a meerkat and a praying mantis. The children listened carefully as they learned interesting facts about each animal and bravely took part in a small animal handling session.
Experiences like this provide wonderful opportunities for children to explore the natural world in a safe and engaging way. The session sparked curiosity and encouraged the children to ask questions, helping them develop their communication skills while building confidence in trying new experiences.
Hands-on learning activities like this are a fantastic way to support early years education. By interacting directly with the animals, children were able to observe, explore and deepen their understanding of living creatures in a meaningful way.
We would like to say a huge thank you to Steve and the team from Educate with Exmoor Zoo for such an engaging and unforgettable visit. The children absolutely loved the experience and it was wonderful to see their excitement and curiosity throughout the session.
