Keeping Children Safe in the Sun at Banana Moon Barnstaple

At Banana Moon Barnstaple, children's health, safety and wellbeing are at the heart of everything we do. That's why we're delighted to have successfully renewed our Sun Safe Nursery Accreditation with SKCIN (The Karen Clifford Skin Cancer Charity).

This accreditation recognises our commitment to promoting safe sun practices and ensuring children can enjoy outdoor learning while being protected from the effects of harmful UV rays.

Outdoor play is an important part of early years education, providing children with opportunities to explore, stay active and develop confidence through hands-on experiences. During the warmer months, we carefully plan our outdoor activities to help children enjoy these experiences safely.

Our team encourages healthy sun-safe habits by providing plenty of shade, promoting regular hydration and helping children understand the importance of protecting themselves in the sun. These simple routines support children's wellbeing while encouraging independence and self-care from an early age.

Working in partnership with families is also an important part of our approach. Together, we can help children develop positive habits that will benefit them throughout their lives, both at nursery and beyond.

We are incredibly proud of our team for maintaining the high standards required to achieve this accreditation and for their continued dedication to providing a safe, nurturing environment where children can learn, play and thrive throughout every season. ☀️
